Notes
- Compliance with the policy is a matter for the Administering Institution to discuss with the NHMRC - the NHMRC will not routinely check compliance with individual Chief Investigators (CIs).
- NHMRC does not intend to place restrictions on the types of publications that can be included in an institutional repository. The Administering Institution should assist researchers to identify and capture appropriate information.
- If no institutional repository is immediately available to a Chief Investigator, this will need to be recorded in the grant Final Report.
- In Australia, the NHMRC Open Access Policy is generally aligned with the Australian Research Council Open Access Policy 2017
- This policy applies to all publications from 1 July 2012 except for peer‑reviewed conference papers where it applies from 15 January 2018.
- NHMRC prefers that all publications resulting from NHMRC funded research be allocated a Creative Commons Attribution licence (CC-BY).
- If this is not possible, it must be indicated in NHMRC’s grant management system. However, other licences from the Creative Commons suite of licences may also be used.
